Painting again, or checking it out at least
Pretty wintery at home these days.
Working on this and the one below. There is some way to go on both.
That one is a bit like the inventory I kept of my ailments as I travelled. None serious!
Probably should paint on hardboard with primer/gesso on it rater than canvases.
Sailing Friday we did well, but now the boat is out of the water for 2 months while the Owner brings another of his boats back from Panama.
more slip casting experiments
I got a star for that one!
Loses definition too much without some colour
This one was slumped since it came out of the mold.
This one slumped a bit in the kiln(too thin I think), and the oxide was wiped off a bit diligently by me I think.
This one is just getting refired as is.
This one I am trying oxide like the first product on.
Will get the last 2 back next week I hope, class has finished so now I need to make the mold how I want it to be.
Someone suggested they could be made to hang on a wall, well the low ones.
Slip casting product at last
Got my Jug and first mountain through glazing
Now have the white ones here glazed and oxided in different ways that will be through the kiln this weekend.
Below complete, bisque fired, and raw clay.

Systems Thunder to floating dock
Went along with Systems Thunder, the boat I crew as ballast on in the Rum Races and Winter series, to the floating dock today.
Quite a nice day out there, I hope it is also tomorrow afternoon when we are out racing again, was very wet last week.
Mountains and other adventures
So this below is the cast from last week bisque fired
Raewyn is not keen on white at all and in this case prevailed on me to paint an oxide on it, so we shall see how it looks next week
I made a couple more too, a big one
And a little one
Also went to the AWS Summit yesterday, had to leave early during the free beer to get to the ferry, to get to the slip casting class …
Then today I got to sit (and pass) the AWS SysOps Administrator – Associate exam. Yay I was over studying for it.
Mountains slip cast 1
Well the first plaster mold I made did not really deliver, I think it was too thin at the end and did not manage to get the thickness of hardening and so …
The second mold I made delivered somewhat better results.
Still a way to go to get to where I want to be though.
I should have a bisque fired mountaiun from the original mold next week at least, so progressing along the learning path.
Working at building mountains again.
This is the my Mt Eden V 2.1 cast, will be slip casting it on Wednesday I hope.
This is the rig along the way
I have already used my Mt Eden V 1 cast to test it, I am thinking it might be V4-5 before I am finished and producing the desired product though.
Meanwhile around this still working on more Amazon AWS Certification and job hunting.
